Popular fast-food chain Dairy Queen is launching their first vegan ice-cream – a gluten-free, coconut cream-based vegan Dilly bars, at selected US locations, the company teased on their Facebook page.
According to the teaser from Dairy Queen of Alliance, the new classic-inspired frozen dessert is gluten-free apart from being vegan, and the bar is draped with delicious vegan chocolate.
According to a report, as of now two stores in Louisianna – 5732 Johnston St. Lafayette and the other in 78 Westbank Expressway, Gretna, LA – have the ice-creams in stock. It also states that stores in New York, NY, Houston TX, Bloomington, MN, and Las Vegas, NV are expected to offer the vegan Dilly bars soon.
Even before the products have officially hit the stores, eagle-eyes customers have already spotted the ice-cream listed on charts, with coming soon label.
Years After Urging
Global animals-activism group PETA writes in an official statement regarding the launch that years after urging Dairy Queen to offer vegan ice-cream, the time has finally come.
PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman said: “PETA thanks the company for adding this vegan option and looks forward to seeing it hit the spot with kind customers.”
The Negative Effects of Dairy Milk
What happens behind the closed walls of a dairy is perhaps mostly unseen, unheard of. Despite these days, animal-activism globally has disclosed the horrors of the dairy industry to the world; the practice continues.
Cows are routinely artificially inseminated (with a hand inserted into the rectum, and the sperm delivered into the vagina using a syringe) in dairies to ensure a steady supply of milk. Once the baby is born, the calf is torn from the mother in a few days. If it is a female calf, the same cycle of torture like her mother will be repeated with her. If male, it will have to die for the veal.
