Valentine’s Day is a great time to show your animal-loving soulmate just how much you love and appreciate them. It’s also your chance to go out of your way to plan a unique date without having to break the bank.
1. Romantic home-cooked dinner
Restaurants tend to be really crowded and overpriced on this special day so I prefer avoiding them. There’s something super sexy about Italian food, red wine, and chocolates. My go-to Italian meal is tofu-cashew ricotta lasagna.
Pick out a selection of vegan cheeses for the appetizers along with a selection of red wines and finish off the meal with vegan chocolates – fyi chocolate is totally an aphrodisiac!
2. Ice Skating
Call me cheesy, but there’s something so romantic about getting all bundled up and going skating with your lover, holding hands, or maybe you’re holding on for dear life! Most cities have artificial ice skating rinks where you can rent skates and they usually play cheesy music and have nice ambient lighting, the perfect atmosphere for a romantic kiss.
Finish the evening off with a dairy-free beverage from your local coffee shop.
3. Bonfire
Grab your blankets, bundle up, and sit by the fire and make some vegan s’mores! Better yet, if you live close to a beach, have a fire on the beach. But make sure you get a permit because most places require one.
4. Chocolate tasting and tour
Google your local chocolate shop to find one that offers a tour/tasting on Valentine’s. Of course you’ll want to make sure it’s vegan, but most dark chocolate is so it shouldn’t be too difficult.
5. Night at the Museum
Going to a museum after-hours is a totally different experience than going during the daytime! The museums who offer special events will often have live music and champagne on nights like this. You’ll want to make sure you eat a good meal before heading over.
