Plant-based meat company Meatless Farm is teaming up with Chilis on Wheels to share vegan Thanksgiving dinners with thousands of New Yorkers in need at the fifth annual Vegan Thanksgiving Community Feast, on Thanksgiving Day.
Meatless Farm has made a donation of 720 packs of plant-based “meat” for this year’s namesake Chili. There are two locations for the Vegan Thanksgiving Community Feast in Manhattan this year – in Tompkins Square Park and Harlem. Volunteers will also continue to deliver food throughout all Manhattan to people living in the streets.
Chilis on Wheels was founded by Michelle Carrera in 2014 when she couldn’t find a soup kitchen that served a vegan Thanksgiving meal. Fast forward to today, and Chilis on Wheels now has 10 chapters in cities all over the U.S. and has served more than 38,000 vegan meals to date.
“The holidays can be especially difficult for those who don’t know where their next meal is coming from. Chilis on Wheels provides a healthy alternative to the meat-based meals that many communities in need are accustomed to. We hope our donation expands the amount of people we can serve this year, and we look forward to sitting down and sharing a meal with them.”
