Colgate-Palmolive, the makers of the widely popular Colgate toothpaste goes vegan with it’s ‘Zero’ lineup of organic, gluten-free range of oral-hygiene products, that is 0% artificial, multiple media reports.
The new lineup, according to CNN is not only vegan and gluten-free but is also bereft of artificial fragrances, colors, and preservatives. The mouthwash is also unsweetened and free from dyes. There’s a separate toothpaste in the range for vegan kids. Wondering if it is an obvious indulge by Colgate-Palmolive into the growing natural foods trends; there’s a whole range that includes mouthwashes and even toothbrushes.
“Improving oral health is our top priority. As consumer preferences shift towards products containing [fewer] artificial ingredients, we wanted to ensure Colgate users had products that fit their lifestyles,” General Manager of North America division for oral care, Greg Ross said in a statement.
For the New Age Conscious Buyers?
There’s a whole lot of people, especially the young generation who are increasingly interested in investing in products that promise to be free from artificial additives and that are safe for the environment. Like Colgate’s own Vegan Society-Certified, Smile for Good range of toothpaste that is sustainably packaged and vegan as well.
The new Zero lineup is reportedly clear and colorless, visually making it look purer. “Every Colgate Zero formula is clear, which helps signal to consumers that they are free from certain ingredients,” Ross was quoted as saying.
It is reportedly being speculated Colgate is trying to appeal to that group of conscious buyers who will go out of their way to invest in eco-conscious products. Products from the likes of Tom’s of Maine (Colgate owned), Burt’s Bees are already market-famous among this distinct group of buyers, and Colgate just seems to tap into that market with greater appeal.
Colgate just recently announced its agreement for acquiring oral care brand Hello Products LLC, which claims to be ‘naturally-friendly’ a trademarked term for nature-friendly offering that is free from harmful additives, organic and vegan.
