Nabati, a Miami-based ice cream shop donated over 130 healthy, plant-based pints to local health organizations.
The DONATE-A-PINT program was initially launched two weeks ago, and the local community responded very positively.
The Nabati team dropped off their first batch and second batch to Jackson Memorial Hospital and plan for a third round next week.
Nabati’s Founder, Ola Kayal shares, “My whole concept for Nabati was to integrate with the community, so when the Coronavirus hit, we transitioned our scoop shop to only serving pints. In an effort to do more for our community, we began offering the option to add a pint for donation to go to local hospitals for those that are dealing with the virus firsthand.”
So far, Nabati has donated over 130 pints, with weekly donations tp the Jackson Memorial Hospital, in Miami.
Other than being a fully plant-based ice cream company, all of Nabati’s products are refined sugar free, gluten free, soy free, and made with only organic ingredients and superfood.
“It’s nice to be able to give back in these times when we don’t know what the future holds,” Ola shares. “We are thankful for our customers that pay it forward to those that could need a little treat especially now.”
Nabati is planning to ship nationwide soon, but want to be sure to maintain their sustainability values the best they can.
“We try very hard to not use single-use plastic, as our shop is completely plastic free”, explains Ola. “Shipping is challenging as we have to use dry ice. We are looking for alternative solutions like green Styrofoam made from non-gmo corn or other more natural sources.”
Their best selling flavors are ‘Shnickers’: a nostalgic taste of rich chocolate ice cream blended with maca, lucuma, peanuts and caramel, and ‘Golden Scoop’– a reproduction of a golden latte in ice cream form, that is especially good for times like these with immunity boosting superfoods such as ginger, turmeric, cinnamon, maca and lucuma.
