Whether you’ve been vegan for awhile or are new to the lifestyle, one thing is pretty universal, avocados are a staple in pretty much every healthy diet. But have you ever wished you could snack on an avocado easier on the go? Naked Market, created by three fed-up friends who just wanted healthy snacks on the market at a fair price, took it upon themselves to craft a better-for-you “healthy fat” snack that are easy to keep munching on no matter where your journey takes you– introducing AvoCrazy Avocado Puffs!
“We’re all ‘avocado obsessed'”, states The Naked Market CEO Harrison Fugman. “We became fixated on the idea to make avocados more stackable and shelf-stable. So after some failed attempts, we went back to the R&D phase to get the crunchy puff that had the right seasoning seasoning and coating game that was not too high in salt and remained healthy for us all to feel good about”.
AvoCrazy are amazing Avocado Puffs – think poofy cheese puffs but healthy. These snacks are vegan, with just 100 calories per bag, gluten-free, and zero sugar! Avocado consumption has skyrocketed in the last decade – doubling in consumption from 4 pounds per capita to 8.2! Unlike other veggie puffs on the market, AvoCrazy puffs are full of Oleic Acid (a very healthy fat), Vitamin K, Vitamin C, Folate, Potassium found in Avocados, and the Avocado Oil can neutralize free radicals and improve skin. That’s what you call a win-win situation!
“With avocado consumption at an all time high and being one of the most “instagrammed” food groups, there’s definitely an element of outright passion towards the product”, states Harrison. “We actually displayed it at the Fancy Food Show in San Francisco and got nothing but positive feedback from the crowd on being able to have them to enjoy on the go.”
AvoCrazy puffs are available in three flavors – BBQ Salsa, Vegan Cheddar, and Vegan Ranch.
“We analyzed what trending flavors that were potential options that were naturally associated with avocados and those that you also wouldn’t and a group of us sat around a table and voted”, Harrison explains. “We wanted to go in the line and see what jumps out and those three were the clear cut winners. We hope to launch more of the flavors we liked in the future”.
The introduction of AvoCrazy marks the third wellness snack launched by The Naked Market that took them just six months, joining their other brands Flock Chicken Chips and Beach House Bowls.
“At the Naked Market, we create socially-driven better-for-you foods. What one of the stems of how our company came together with our 3 co-founders, we all consider ourselves heath and wellness maniacs, but the health aspects between us varied”, explains Harrison. “Whether that meant a focus on intermittent fasting, keto, or being vegan, we really wanted to cater to each specific demographic. As you think about vegan snacks with a 6% percent of Americans saying that they follow a vegan diet, up from 1% in 2014. 17% of Americans follow a plant-based diet, that’s a core focus for us in the snacking world. Then it comes down to what are the foods that we love and how can we best serve the community, and creating products that satisfy those loves”.
As part of The Naked Market’s commitment to social consciousness and giving back, for every case of AvoCrazy sold, The Naked Market will donate one meal to hungry families, the homeless, and impoverished elders in the San Francisco community through a partnership with the SF Marin Food Bank.
“Our company as a whole for all of our brands has a strong component for mental health and supporting our local community” Harrison shares. “We wanted to do something that gave back. We launched with a program that donates a meal for every box of product that we sell, now in the place of what’s going on globally, we changed that initiative so that now as a company, through Naked Market, we are worked, in addition with other food banks, to donate 46k meals in a matter of 14 days in March to support those effected by COVID”.
