The morning of August 18th, 2020, Vegancuts launched their new Spotlight Program, aiming to highlight several Black-owned vegan businesses around the country, on their popular online marketplace.
Vegancuts is a Snack, Cruelty-Free Beauty & Makeup subscription box service and marketplace whose mission is to “celebrate the vegan lifestyle, regardless of how you live it and bring you vegan products you can trust.”
The free program will feature 5 Black-owned and operated vegan businesses in the US, including the following: Habit Cosmetics, 103 Collection, Project Pop, Southern Roots Vegan Bakery, and Well Done Oat Butter.
Starting on August 18th, each brand will appear in the new Spotlight section on the Vegancuts Marketplace. They will receive guidance and coaching based on their individual business challenges as well as the peer-to-peer support of other members of their cohort throughout a 4-month program.
Additionally, brands will receive free advertisement and visibility to Vegancuts’ extensive audience through its social media and email community.
As with all online marketplaces, Vegancuts works with businesses to feature products and takes a commission for each sale through their website. However, in order to support the growth of Spotlight Program members, each business will not be charged any commission or credit card fees from sales received on the Vegancuts Marketplace. 100% of revenues will directly be passed to Spotlight brands.
“In our process of connecting with hundreds of vegan brands every year, we observed a dearth of Black-owned vegan businesses in the US. When speaking with Black entrepreneurs and leaders, we realized that they face real inequities that make it so much more challenging to build and develop a business – from a lack of mentorship opportunities for help with facing everyday business decisions, to fewer entrepreneur peers to lean on for support. At Vegancuts, we’re in a unique position to provide meaningful assistance – with both a thriving marketplace as well as a mission-based culture. Now wit the launch of the Spotlight Program, we’re honored to be a part of the lives of up-and-coming entrepreneurs who will no doubt go on to be peers and mentors to many other aspiring entrepreneurs.” -Ashish Gupta, CEO of Vegancuts.
