JADA Spices founders Khasha Touloei and Maynard Okereke entered the Shark Tank Friday night to pitch their vegan spice products on ABC’s Shark Tank. The entrepreneurs took their business to the sharks seeking an investment of $250,000 in return for 20% equity in the brand.
Known for their vegan chicken salt products, JADA Spices encourages healthier home cooking by offering seasonings with no MSG, no animal products, and decreased sodium. The brand was founded by Touloei while he was training to be a physician and noticed that his patients with high blood pressure and diabeties would never stick to their diet. He thought about what his mother would do to get him to eat foods he wasn’t interested in as a child, remembering that she would add Chicken Salt, a popular spice in Australia. From there, he created JADA’s healthier vegan Chicken Salt with the hope of encouraging healthier eating without compromising on flavor.
JADA’s spice range includes five Chicken Salt varieties – Original, Reduced Sodium, Lime, Barbecue, and Red Pepper – as well as a Turmeric Salt. Touloei and Okereke didn’t stop at their spices, though. They also debuted their newest product, Plant-Based Chick’n Mix. The mix, which is completely vegan and soy-free, is perfect for making chicken patties or meatballs and for adding to dishes like pasta, kebabs, tacos, salads, wraps, burgers, and more.
The sharks got to try the new Chick’n Mix as well as the Chicken Salt on popcorn, french fries, and vegetable skewers. After Touloei and Okereke’s energetic pitch, Shark Barbara Corcoran sunk her teeth into JADA’s products and offered them an investment of $250,000 for 33% equity in JADA Spices.

I saw you on Shark Tank; although I’m not vegetarian or vegan, I want to try all of your spices. I got bored with Lowery’s. I also was I liked both of your stories. I know you’ll be great!!
