The “Oscars of food, fashion, and lifestyle media,” also known as the Taste Awards, has nominated New Day New Chef– an all vegan cooking show, for 8 sought after categories this year.
The show hosted by vegan journalist and activist Jane Velez-Mitchell, stormed into uncharted territory on Amazon Prime, becoming the first all vegan cooking show of its kind on a mainstream platform. After a successful debut in the United States and United Kingdom in February 2020, the show quickly expanded to Australia, Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand.
With a mission to dispel the myths of veganism and celebrate the abundance of the lifestyle, the show features renowned chefs, celebrities, and a panel of taste-testers to offer feedback on the innovative dishes prepared. Culinary challenges include animal-free versions of tacos, pizzas, pastas, dips, and many more familiar favorites. Participants tap into their creative juices to deliver mouthwatering dishes that are bound to inspire us all!
New Day New Chef is also dedicated to supporting outreach efforts by the nonprofit Support + Feed, which was founded by Billie Eilish’s mother Maggie Baird. In a special season, the show highlighted Support + Feed’s mission to help local vegan businesses and supply food to underserved communities, charities, shelters, and senior centers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
New Day New Chef and its Support + Feed edition have been nominated for Best Reality Series; Best Green or Organic Program, Series or Film; Best New Series; Best Health & Fitness Program, Film or Documentary; Best Filmed at Home Episodes or Film; and Best Series Pilot!
This recognition clearly portrays the booming popularity of veganism and it’s high time that more cooking shows and network stations keep up with the vegan revolution!
