Fan-favorite Los Angeles plant-based burger joint Honeybee Burger has recently opened up ownership of their business to the public for the first time, via Start Engine. They’ve blown it out of the park and reached their goal of $1 million! This was scheduled for 6 months down the road!
Over 1,400 invested in Honeybee in barely 6 weeks. With the current investment limit reached, they have now opened up a waitlist with investments starting at $240
Their goal is to establish incumbency to become the de facto plant-based burger joint at airports, sports arenas, high street retail, and even central business districts and malls. They aim to open 4-6 stores within 12 months and have 12-20 stores operating within 24-36 months. Of course, if they could follow in the footsteps of giants like McDonalds and Shake Shack, they might go public one day!
Honeybee will also leverage their brand visibility, and their food expertise, to develop branded plant-based food products, for grocery, customers, and other restaurants.
This last year they donated meals to hospital workers at Kaiser, Children’s LA and St. John’s, and created a hero’s discount code where healthcare workers received 50% off, everyday.
Adam Weiss, the founder of Honeybee, is a long time finance professional and investor. Adam started investing in the plant-based restaurant space with Cafe Gratitude almost 10 years ago, and since then has invested in several other food and plant-based businesses. He formed Virtuous Foods three years ago to focus on these efforts, and committed full time to launching and growing Honeybee back in late 2018.
