Inspired by his vision for quality products and fine craftsmanship, fifth-generation Napa Valley winemaker Joseph Wagner embarked on his venture to create Elouan Wines– brought to the masses from the gorgeous foothills of Oregon’s coast. A California winemaker at heart, Wagner was keen on incorporating his Californian touch to Oregon wines, yielding a “depth of flavor, vibrancy, and suppleness.” The ethos of Elouan is to work in harmony with nature and the land.
The word “Elouan” has Celtic origins and means “Good Light.” Wagner was drawn to this name as it ideally reflects the abundant sunshine and cool summers of the region. The Elouan team believes that “good light helps all things grow.” They have committed to participate in this growth and revive the world’s dwindling biodiversity by partnering with Trees for the Future (TREES).
TREES was founded with a drive to end poverty and hunger while helping farmers regenerate their land and plant more trees. Their innovative solution entails working alongside farmers through a 4-year training program called the “Forest Garden Approach.” Farmers plant thousands of trees beneficial to the soil and recuperating nutrients. This in turn helps them grow a variety of fruits and vegetables. The end result- increased income and access to food, all while benefiting the environment!
Elouan Wines began their partnership with TREES in the Fall of 2020, where they pledged to plant a tree for every bottle or glass of wine sold during the holiday season. During those 3 months, the team exceeded their goal of 500,000 trees- planting over 605,798+ trees! This mission-driven campaign is back in 2021 with their “Enjoy a Bottle, Plant a Tree” initiative, where Elouan Wines and TREES will plant a tree for every bottle or glass of Elouan wines sold between March 1 – May 31 to celebrate Earth Day (April 22), Arbor Day (April 30), and Oregon Wine Month (May). Together, they seek to pay homage to the pristine planet we should preserve and protect.
There’s also an opportunity to plant a bonus tree. All you have to do is use the hashtag #PlantATreeWithElouan on Instagram with the @ElouanWines tag and voila- your purchase and social media time can yield 2 majestic trees!
Elouan’s portfolio includes Chardonnay, Rosé, Pinot Noir, Klamath’s Kettle Reserve Pinot Noir and Missoulan Wash Reserve Pinot Noir. Visit www.elouanwines.com/plant-a-tree to find out where to purchase Elouan.
