Pride Month is officially here, and Danone North America’s plant-based brands, Silk and So Delicious Dairy Free, are continuing their multi-year efforts to support the LGBTQ+ community.
According to a recent study*, LGBTQ+ youth are 120% more likely to experience homelessness, which is why Silk and So Delicious are donating to nonprofit organizations True Colors United and Urban Peak respectively to directly assist LGBTQ+ youth who are currently experiencing homelessness.
Silk believes in a world where everyone is celebrated and championed for being their authentic selves, and so the brand is proud to mark Pride Month with a $100,000 donation to True Colors United.
This marks the third consecutive year Silk has donated to True Colors United to support the organization’s mission to help LGBTQ+ homeless youth through education, advocacy, and leadership development programs.
Silk also encourages fans to tune into its social channels (Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter) for a virtual Pride Parade featuring more information about True Colors United and stories about overcoming adversity from members of the LGBTQ+ community.
So Delicious Dairy Free is showing its support of the LGBTQ+ community with a $10,000 donation to Urban Peak, a Denver-based nonprofit organization aimed at ending youth homelessness, a crisis disproportionately affecting LGBTQ+ youth.
The brand’s donation this year will allow Urban Peak to help support youth who are currently experiencing homelessness in getting their first apartment, earning their GED, and accessing mental healthcare. So Delicious Dairy Free has been a longtime partner of Urban Peak because they passionately believe everyone should have an equal seat at the table and be given a fair shot to thrive.
