UK – Thursday 11th March 2021 Better Nature, an innovative meat-free brand, have partnered with Mindful Chef to launch two new delicious recipes using their all-natural tempeh-based products. Available from 7th March 2021, the new plant-based recipes include a cottage pie using Better Nature tempeh mince and a speedy nasi goreng using pre-marinated Saucy Stir-fry Better Bites.
As the UK’s highest rated recipe box service, Mindful Chef’s weekly subscription boxes provide tasty, ethically sourced ingredients and nutritionist-designed recipes to over 30,000 households each week. This partnership comes as part of Mindful Chef’s drive to widen their vegan offering, following a considerable increase in demand for vegan recipe boxes within the last year. The pandemic has led to an increased uptake of plant-based eating throughout 2020 and into 2021, with tempeh being one of the fastest growing new foods. In the year to January 2021, sales of Better Nature tempeh increased by 1400% as consumers became more conscious of their health and spent more time cooking from scratch. This year Veganuary reported a record 500,000 sign ups and one in five people cooked a fully vegan Christmas dinner last year.
David Waller, Buying Manager from Mindful Chef comments, “Better Nature really stood out for us with their clean label, all-natural products and passion for great taste and nutrition. Our recipe boxes have to be 100% gluten and dairy-free, without any artificial ingredients, so Better Nature is perfectly aligned with our values. We can’t wait for our customers to start exploring the exciting world of tempeh through these new tasty flavour combinations.”
Packed with a range of micronutrients and prebiotics, Better Nature’s products are high in protein, high in fibre and contain no artificial ingredients. The lupin-based stir-fry bites are packed with flavours like soy and ginger, whilst the organic soy tempeh mince adds the meaty bite associated with classics like Cottage Pie.
Christopher Kong, Co-Founder of Better Nature comments, “Mindful Chef is a company that shares our passion for great tasting quality food so we’re so excited about this partnership. For us, it’s the next step in our mission to make our tempeh-based products even more accessible, while increasing awareness and education around their unique nutritional content, wide-ranging health benefits and delicious versatility in the kitchen. We want to show people that protein can be sourced sustainably and ethically without compromising on taste and these new recipes certainly do that.”
Mindful Chef currently offers over 20 recipes with flexible subscription options, and customers can receive a weekly box with up to five nutritionist-designed recipes and locally sourced ingredients. All recipes take under 30 minutes to make and have less than eight steps, making healthy, nutritious cooking as quick and easy as possible.
Better Nature’s Vegan Cottage Pie and Speedy Nasi Goreng recipe boxes will be available on mindfulchef.com from 7th March. Boxes start from £6 per portion for family boxes, with free nationwide delivery.
First time customers can currently receive £10 off their 1st and 2nd boxes. The full range of Better Nature products is available from betternaturefoods.co/shop.
ABOUT BETTER NATURE
Better Nature is an innovative meat-free brand founded in 2018 by four foodies – Christopher Kong a biochemist turned entrepreneur, Indonesian-born food scientist Amadeus Driando Ahnan, product developer Fabio Rinaldo and Elin Roberts, a marketing strategist and advocate of plant-based living. Better Nature was founded on a mission to end the suffering caused by the animal protein industry and create a happier, healthier, more sustainable planet for everyone. They do so using tempeh – an all-natural plant-based protein originating in Indonesia that’s high in protein and fibre, packed with micronutrients and being fermented, is great for the gut. The company has won multiple awards including three international food tech competitions, two world-class equity-free incubator and accelerator programmes. They won Best New High-Protein Food and Beverage Startup at the 11th Protein Summit, the TWB Startup Award and more recently, the Most Innovative Plant- or Cereal-based Food Ingredient at Fi Europe. They have registered four patents, one approved and three pending.
