Filmmakers and authors are invited to submit their vegan-themed films and cookbooks to the 2023 festival.
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada: Shawn Stratton, Executive Director of The International Vegan Film Festival (IVFF), announced today that submissions are now open for the 2023 Festival. Filmmakers and cookbook authors can submit their work by going to www.theivff.com. The deadline to submit films and cookbooks is June 1, 2023, with the winners being announced at the main Festival taking place in Toronto in November 2023.
The sixth annual International Vegan Film Festival is now accepting vegan-themed film and vegan cookbook submissions.
The vegan film festival – described by its director, Shawn Stratton, as the world’s first of its kind, aims to showcase short and feature-length films with a vegan subject matter from filmmakers around the world.
Filmmakers
Building on the success of its first five years, where it received well over 150 film submissions from 25 countries, the Festival aims to show quality vegan-themed, short and long-form films from around the world.
The Festival accepts films from both professional and amateur filmmakers with large and small budgets. For example, the 2018 Grand Prize winner (and BAFTA Short Film winner) 73 Cows was produced on a very small budget and competed against others with million-dollar budgets. In 2023 the Best Vegan-Theme Feature Film award went to the film SLAY, a film about investigative filmmaker Rebecca Cappelli, who travels around the world to uncover the dark side of the fashion industry.
Entry
The entry deadline is June 1, 2023, and welcomes ‘short and full-length features, fiction and documentary.
According to event organizers: “All entries will be viewed before the Festival by a pre-selection Committee chaired by the Festival Director and Programming Director. An appointed international jury will screen finalists chosen by this Committee.”
