Full steam ahead! Royal Caribbean has added vegan options to its cruise ship dining room menus. On August 1, the cruise company added vegan spaghetti bolognese, Orzo pasta stew with green vegetables, edamame-stuffed portobello mushrooms, and a number of dessert options including a toffee cheesecake with dark chocolate and a peanut butter crust. The cruise company has been offering plant-based food options at its Windjammer buffet, but the addition of the new dining room menu items allows ‘vegan passengers to enjoy more formal meals’. Royal Caribbean isn’t the only cruise company to add vegan options to their menus. Oceania Cruises added more than 250 plant-based dishes to its menu in 2017, while Regent Seven Seas cruises says it is in the process of adding vegan dishes to all of its ships. The new menu items will be available on Royal Caribbean ships as each ship returns to its homeport.
