The creators of The DE Method, aka the anywhere gym, a Chicago-based couple, Dannah Eve Bollig, a certified personal trainer and former division one athlete, and her husband, Brandon Bollig, a former NHL hockey player for both the Calgary Flames and champion Chicago Blackhawks have been tuning into their snack choices even more since their lifestyles have changed significantly throughout the past couple of months as a result of the pandemic. Being as conscious as possible about their eating habits, Dannah and Brandon put together a list of their favorite vegan snacks to share with fellow active vegans to enjoy at home too!
So what do they love? Dannah and Brandon share:
- Kite Hill — A staple in our home that’s used daily! We love cream cheese and this is the ONLY brand that we can’t even taste the difference! Delicious on bagels, sandwiches, in pasta sauces, you name it!
- Frozen Cauliflower Pizza Crust — This makes a very quick, easy, convenient, and healthy lunch or dinner! Slap on your favorite pizza sauce and cheese (or cheese alternative) and pop it in the oven! Bonus, less carbs and calories!
- Violife Cheddar Shreds — 100% vegan and a must have in our fridge. This cheese alternative looks, feels and tastes like real cheese — it even melts!
- Spaghetti Squash — Craving pasta but not the carbs? Halve your spaghetti squash, scoop out the seeds, season with some EVOO, salt, pepper and pop that baby face down in the oven for 30-40 minutes for a delicious meal. Top with your favorite pasta sauce and enjoy right from its shell!
- Tip: Keeping the spaghetti squash in its shell keeps it hot
- Raos Sensitive Marinara Sauce — This is the BEST pasta sauce on the market that we always keep in the house! The sensitive marinara does not contain onions, or garlic while keeping all the flavor!
- Avocados — Packed with vitamins, healthy fats, and dietary fiber, avocados are an amazing superfood staple to keep in the house. From salads, tacos, and omelets, to our favorite, avocado toast, avocados are a delicious and nutritious addition to any meal.
- Tip: Since avocados ripen and rot extremely fast… pop them in the freezer as soon as they’re ready to eat! Defrost in a bowl of cool water for 1 about 5 minutes and they are as perfect as the day they went in. (Freezer safe for 1 month)
- Organic Ginger Tea — Boosts immunity, helps relieve nausea, reduces inflammation, helps relieve tummy issues, improves circulation, relieves stress… need I say more? Not only is ginger tea delicious but with the added health benefits, its a no brainer to keep on hand! We drink a glass of ginger tea first thing in the morning, and after dinner before bed.
