FARM’s virtual AR conference was cancelled but in it’s place takes an even bigger free event! Animal Place is organizing the online Farmed Animal Conference E-Summit (FACES) August 3-9.
FACES features the movement’s most important ‘faces’ such as Peter Singer (Animal Liberation and the upcoming Why Vegan?), PCRM president Dr. Neal Barnard, Tofurky’s Seth Tibbott, Save Movement founder Anita Krajnc, filmmakers Kip Andersen and Keegan Kuhn (Cowspiracy, What the Health), Melanie Joy (author of Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs and Wear Cows), Oscar-winning filmmaker Louie Psihoyos (The Cove, The Game Changers) Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson (author of When Elephants Weep and The Face on Your Plate), evolutionary biologist Marc Bekoff (author of The Emotional Lives of Animals), Encompass founder Aryenish Birdie, Animal Place executive director Kim Sturla, Afro-Vegan Society president Brenda Sanders, Big Cheese Miyoko Schinner, Plant Based on a Budget’s Toni Okamoto Shapiro, lions, tigers, and bears, except not them because the focus is farmed animals.
Hosts include TV journalist and bestselling author Jane Velez-Mitchell, 13-year-old activist Genesis Butler, author and Our Hen House cofounder Jasmin Singer, and Plant Based Network CEO Ronnie “Tsunami” Gandiza.
Registration is required: www.FACesummit.org.
“The dire issues affecting farmed animals are only increasing during this global pandemic, and as animal activists, vegans, and environmentalists we knew we had to do more,” said Sturla. “FACES will teach us all how to be more effective and strategic advocates, how to influence law and policy, how to use social media like a pro, and how to build a bigger, more inclusive movement.”
FACES, co-organized by Plant Based Network, TV’s first all-vegan channel, will feature three new videos each day for seven days. Talks are free to stream; if attendees want to keep those videos, audios, and transcripts forever, plus perks generously provided by speakers, there will be packages available for a nominal cost. Any profits support Animal Place. Organizations or activists interested in fundraising can also sign up as affiliates.
Normally Animal Place hosts the Farmed Animal Conference at its 600-acre sanctuary in Northern California, “where the barn is your classroom.” Since they are not able to organize a physical conference, however, the event can reach an exponentially larger audience with this no-cost event, while being able to attract incredible speakers because nobody needs to travel now.
This event aims to raise the level of discussion – and the level of animal and vegan activism. Register here: www.FACesummit.org.
