Known for serving delicious beef burgers, the Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s chain restaurants are now offering Beyond Meat plant-based options.
Earlier this month, the brother fast-food chains Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. announced that they will be adding Beyond Meat menu items to their menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This makes them the first national fast-serve restaurants (different from fast-food) to offer plant-based Beyond Meat options.
Starting yesterday, Carl’s Jr. will begin the implementation with the addition of two new breakfast menu items: the Beyond Sausage Burrito and the Beyond Sausage Egg & Cheese Biscuit.
The Beyond Sausage Burrito comes filled with the plant-based brand’s sausage patty, scrambled egg (not vegan), dairy cheese, hash browns, tomatoes, and salsa, all wrapped in a warm tortilla. The Beyond Sausage Egg & Cheese Biscuit features the Beyond Meat patty, dairy cheese, and eggs packed in a biscuit.
While great additions, these menu items actually supplement two preexisting Beyond Meat options: the Beyond Famous Star and Beyond BBQ Cheeseburger.
Following suit, Hardee’s will introduce a Beyond Sausage Burrito and an Original Beyond Thickburger on December 30, 2019.
“As we head into 2020, the addition of these new Beyond Meat options at both restaurants is one of the many ways we’re continuing to deliver the innovation and quality Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s are known for while appealing to new audiences including flexitarians, Gen Z, and millennials”, senior VP of brand marketing at parent company CKE Restaurants, said. “We chose to partner with Beyond Meat for the brand’s commitment to offering delicious, high-quality, plant-based meat and believe the increase in Beyond Meat offerings will attract a broadening consumer base that is looking for more diverse protein options across all-day parts.”
