“If the world ate more seeds, it would be a much happier place!” These are the emphatic words of 88 Acres CEO and Co-Founder, and delicious snack maker Nicole Ledoux. Born from her experiments with creating delicious, allergen-free treats for her husband, the duo has since embarked on a mission to fill a glaring void in the allergy-friendly snack market with a range of seed-based products from creamy seed butters, to the chunkiest granolas!
The company is also dedicated to advancing its sustainability initiatives with its new partnership with affordable online grocer Misfits Market! As part of this hallmark collaboration, 88 Acres is gearing up to offer a brand new flavor- Cinnamon Maple Edge’nola. This product will be a fully upcycled snack made available for retail in 10oz packages at $3.99 exclusively to Misfits members starting this week. It comes packed with nutrients from pumpkin, sunflower, and flax seeds, along with gluten-free oats and organic cinnamon and maple- sounds like a delight for any occasion!
Why the name “Edge’nola” you ask? Thousands of pounds of edge pieces result from the production of 88 Acres Cinnamon & Oats Seed+Oat Bar Thins. These Bar Thins are a popular, free in-flight snack option available on all JetBlue flights. Instead of letting these edges go to waste, they are being revamped into a whole new product with some maple magic!
Nicole is thrilled about this partnership and taking her company’s mission to feed and save the planet leaps ahead. She says- “As a food company, we believe it is our responsibility when creating products to keep sustainability at the forefront. As with all of our Seed+Oat Bars, baking millions of Seed+Oat Bar Thins for the JetBlue community leaves thousands of pounds of edge pieces behind. We didn’t want our crispy Edge’nola to go to waste, so we partnered with food waste-fighting online grocer Misfits Market to give it a good home. We couldn’t be more excited about this partnership,”
After all, why contribute to the global food waste epidemic when we can deliver a wholesome, delicious snack that everyone can savor?
All 88 Acres’ products are made in their zero-food-waste bakery in Boston that is free of peanuts, tree nuts, gluten, dairy, eggs, soy, and sesame. All snacks are nut-free, kosher, Non-GMO Project Verified, Certified Vegan, and certified by the Gluten-Free Certification Organization.
