Our food choices matter. Every day we have at least three opportunities to make an impact on our planet for the better. JUST, maker of plant-based products such as the Folded JUST Egg, is on a mission to create a fair, honest, and just food system that makes it easy for everyone to eat well for themselves and the planet.
As of March 2020, JUST has sold the equivalent of more than 30 million eggs. That’s a lot of eggs. When you think about the impact those eggs have on the environment, that number becomes even more impressive, especially when you take into consideration that the plant-based JUST egg uses 98% less water, has a 93% smaller carbon footprint, and uses 86% less land than conventional animal sources. According to JUST, this makes it one of the most sustainable protein sources on the planet.
But JUST isn’t fighting environmental issues with just their products. They’re also using their social media channels to bring attention to the impact that our food system, industrial agriculture, and burning fossil fuels have on the planet.
To help bring further attention to this issue, today JUST is launching their Earth Every Day Campaign. While yesterday, April 22, 2020, marked the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, JUST knows that it isn’t just on Earth Day that we need to be striving towards making better choices for the environment – it’s every day.
“We’re launching the campaign Thursday, the day after Earth Day, to raise awareness about the link between food choices and the planet. The single biggest individual impact one can make for the planet is what you eat — and you get three votes for the planet daily — at breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
While people are rightfully focused on the current crisis, change often begins at times of great challenge. We’re learning now, more than ever, about the interconnectedness of our planet and our people, and JUST has always played a role in that important discussion.”
Along with the Earth Every Day Campaign JUST has also devoted their popular “JUST At Home” IGTV series to zero waste recipes and learning to make the most of the food we have available at home.
With the outbreak of COVID-19, JUST understands that many people at home are looking for simple and delicious recipes using the basic ingredients available to them. With that in mind, they created “JUST At Home” in order to share recipes with their followers using basic ingredients that make the most of the fridge and pantry.
Each episode, of which there are fifteen so far, features JUST’s chefs in their own kitchens at home cooking recipes filmed with their smartphones. From JUST Eggs Benedict to Matzo Brei, the recipes will definitely have your mouth watering and wanting to try them out for yourselves!
In fact, why not try one of our favorites – the delicious Protein Bowl with Folded JUST Egg pictured below.
You can find the recipe in Episode 10: Protein Bowl with Chef Zach and the rest of the episodes on JUST’s Instagram TV. The written recipe can also be found on JUST’s website.
After you enjoy your earth-friendly meal, join in the “Earth Every Day” conversation at #EarthEveryDay and follow JUST at @EatJUST on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for tips, education, inspiration, and, of course, delicious recipes!
JUST will be kicking things off today at 12 pm PST with a live-streamed Q&A between JUST co-founder and CEO Josh Tetrick and actor, activist, and impact investor Adrian Grenier.
Happy Day After Earth Day! Here’s to continuing to make better choices for the planet – every day of the year.
