Fast-casual and sustainably minded restaurant brand Just Salad has revamped its smoothie menu, transitioning to 100% vegan, plant-based ingredients to foster a healthy lifestyle and a healthy planet.
Encouraging consumers to be more planet friendly, these delicious new menu options allow those to lower their individual carbon footprint at an affordable, flavorful cost. The new vegan line consists of items like the PB Protein, a wholesome, protein packed smoothie containing oat milk, baby spinach, banana, hemp seeds, peanut butter, roasted pumpkin seeds and agave. Each ingredient in every new smoothie was hand-picked by Just Salad’s Culinary Director to maximize taste and minimize carbon impact.
Culinary Director, Jhonny shares what inspired him to give Just Salad’s smoothie menu a plant-based makeover, “I took on the challenge to make a plant based smoothie menu based on the benefits I have seen from adopting a plant based diet. Once I brought it up to the team, we all agreed this was the direction we wanted to take.”
Just Salad has a record when it comes to providing consumers with lower-impact menu options. Last year, the company removed grass-fed beef from its menu and replaced it with Beyond Meat’s plant-based beef alternative, which is associated with 90% lower greenhouse gas emissions, and just recently, it offered customers $2 off three of its lowest carbon emission menu items in honor of Earth Day.
When asked what was Jhonny’s favorite, he shares, “PB Protein without a doubt, it has everything you need to get your day going. Protein packed (10g), very tasty, and of course it is totally VEGAN”!
