World-renowned neurologists and Alzheimer’s specialists’ partner with Connexion Insurance Solutions to challenge the community to get healthier in 30 days by making new social connections and trying plant-based nutrition.
Seattle, Wash. (Aug 4, 2020) — Connexion Insurance Solutions, in collaboration with world-renowned Neurologists, Dean and Ayesha Sherzai, M.D., will launch the Northwest Connexion Challenge: 30 Days to Healthier Living and Stronger Connections, on Sept. 1. This free 30-day challenge helps seniors achieve better health by addressing two of the most important factors impacting their longevity: 1) loneliness 2) the use of plant-based nutrition to help treat chronic conditions like heart disease, Alzheimer’s, and diabetes. Through an interactive online community on Facebook, the challenge will give participants the opportunity to learn, engage in activities, make new connections, share their experiences, and interact in live Q&A sessions with medical experts.
With the emergence of COVID-19, the US population has been forced into extended periods of isolation and social distancing. A recent survey conducted by Connexion found that a staggering 38% of people are currently experiencing loneliness. According to the National Institutes of Health, research has linked loneliness and social isolation to an increased risk of a wide array of conditions, including cognitive decline, depression, high blood pressure, heart disease, and obesity.
“The 2020 Northwest Connexion Challenge is about our desire to care for the whole person. You are just 30 days away from better health and stronger social connections. While the focus of the campaign is on seniors, I warmly welcome all people to sign up for the challenge on the Facebook Group and start engaging. It’s a great activity for all generations of family members to try together,” said Meitl.
Participants in the challenge will also have the unique opportunity to learn from and interact with Drs. Dean and Ayesha Sherzai, co-directors of the Brain Health and Alzheimer Prevention Program at Loma Linda University Medical Center. Best known for their pioneering book, “The Alzheimer’s Solution: A Breakthrough Program to Prevent and Reverse the Symptoms of Cognitive Decline at Every Age,” as well as their frequent appearances on “Dr. Oz,” Drs. Sherzai will answer group questions and join weekly Facebook Live sessions to share some of the science and lessons behind the NEURO PLAN Academy, a program they developed to provide educational tools for complete brain and body health.
“We are thrilled to be a part of the Northwest Connexion Challenge and are eager to meet the community and share our life’s passion. We believe that great brain health starts at home and in the community. Together, we can positively affect the most important organ in the body for billions of people with effective tools and methodologies. This will be a personalized, comprehensive program for healthy living that people can follow for the rest of their lives,” said Dean Sherzai, M.D.
“We are an aging society and unfortunately we will continue to see the rates of chronic diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Dementia and Parkinson’s steadily increase in the years to come if we do not address the underlying causes of these devasting conditions. Together we can prevent, and even reverse, many diseases by spreading the knowledge and resources necessary for individuals and families to develop these positive behaviors and habits,” said Ayesha Sherzai, M.D. “People who are engaged, productive and actively connected with others tend to live longer, healthier and happier lives.”
