All of PCRM’s programs, including those most important for replacing animals in laboratories, promoting plant-based diets, and conducting clinical research—are moving full-speed ahead. In some cases, their work has taken on new urgency.
The COVID-19 vaccine has highlighted the urgency of moving beyond painfully slow animal tests. And concerns about infection have many people asking about the immune-strengthening power of a healthy diet. The Barnard Medical Center is beginning a new telemedicine program to allow people in Maryland, Virginia, D.C., New York, and Missouri to have medical visits online—which is a huge relief for people who are unable or unwilling to travel.
By taking advantage of their resources and current channels available to communicate during this time, there is now an expert commentary on The Exam Room podcast, on social media, and on PCRM.org. Even in China, their nutrition outreach program continues to reach hundreds of new people every week!
