Their plant-based Cajun Southern fried chicken and waffles were named BEST fried chicken at the 2018 National Fried Chicken Festival by Time’s Extra Crispy editor. This was huge, as they were the only plant-based fried chicken at the festival that year!
Atlas, meaning global cuisine with eclectic flavors, and Monroe, meaning straight from the mouth of the river. A daughter of immigrants, Deborah Torres and her family started the company with their own money. Her father is from Guyana, her mother is from London, and her maternal grandmother is from Jamaica.
Atlas Monroe, previously named Veganation, is a favorite of familiar names such as Jermaine Dupri, Tabitha Brown, and Jay Versace, to name a few. Their entrees are global favorites that many vegan and vegetarians often miss out on.
Their purpose is to illustrate that an alternative, healthier lifestyle doesn’t have to be bland, but exciting; an exceptional, tastier, and an ultimately better way of life. Atlas Monroe is located in the San Francisco Bay Area and offers nationwide shipping.
