Starting tomorrow, November 15th, Quiznos will be introducing a trial run of Mrs. Goldfarb’s Unreal Deli plant-based corned beef in several Denver Quiznos locations.
The new plant-based corned beef, which will be made available for a limited time only, is set to be featured on a completely new Quiznos menu item –– the Plant-Based Corned Beef sandwich. This sandwich, while not completely vegan as is, will feature the vegan corned beef “meat”, sauerkraut, pickles, dairy-based Swiss cheese, and honey French dressing, all served in a Quiznos bun of the customer’s choosing.
However, customers do have the option to make the sandwich completely vegan, which separates this new menu addition from other plant-based attempts made by other at-large fast-food chains such as Burger King. If the customer wants to make it vegan, all he/she has to do is order the sandwich without cheese and the French dressing and opt for either wheat or white bun.
This is the very first plant-based meat addition for Quiznos, allowing them to join the ranks of several other restaurants that have decided to try plant-based options on their menu. If the plant-based meat is successful in Denver locations, Quiznos plans to roll it out to be available at all locations across the nation.
In a recent press, vice president of marketing for REGO Restaurant Group (Quiznos’ parent company) Sheila Zimmerman said, “Given consumers’ growing desire for meatless options and the rise of plant-based foods, we wanted to test this modern twist on a deli classic here in Denver where sustainable green lifestyles are thriving.”
The provider of the plant-based corned beef, Mrs. Goldfarb’s Unreal Deli, is planning to make an appearance on Shark Tank to gain further capital for explosive growth.
