Come summer 2020, the wildly popular vegan brand Tofurky is going to be further extending its offerings with a new vegan cheese product.
The vegan cheese products will be offered under Tofurky’s Moocho brand, which was originally launched in February of 2019. Currently, Moocho offers three flavors of vegan cheesecake. By summer 2020, however, the brand will offer even more vegan delights, including three flavors of vegan cheese shreds (Cheddar, Mozzarella, and Fiesta Blend) and three flavors of cream cheese spread (Plain, Strawberry, and Garden Vegetable).
Moving forward, Tofurky is working to turn Moocho into its own stand-alone brand, complete with a separate design concept and focus on vegan cheese products. In an interview with VegNews, Tofurky CEO Jaime Athos said, “From our perspective, there are simple, modern non-dairy cheese ingredient options available now that allow for a dairy-free taste and texture that more closely resembles dairy cheese. With Moocho, we hope to close this gap between what is currently offered and what consumers want with new tasty, affordable, and accessible dairy-free foods. We also hope to reach new consumers beyond those loyal to Tofurky with a brand for past, present, and future dairy-free enthusiasts, who may reduce or eliminate dairy for dietary or health reasons”.
The brand new Moocho vegan cheese shreds will come in 8-ounce bags and the cream cheese spreads will be available in 8-ounce tubs. Tofurky also plans to make the vegan cheese products available to foodservice companies that may benefit from offering a plant-based cheese option to their customers.
