Vegan dating is back! According to dating app Veggly, a dating app for vegans and vegetarians, plant-based dating is on the rise as COVID-19 restrictions begin to ease around the world.
Many people have pushed pause on dating in the past 18 months, especially during the peak of the pandemic. In fact, according to data from a new Veggly survey, 45% of 4,000 vegan Veggly users stated they did not date at all, including virtually, during those peak times.
Now, with vaccination rates growing and restrictions easing in some areas, some people are feeling comfortable with the idea of dating again. In fact, in the same Veggly survey, close to a third said that going on a date will be the first thing they do as restrictions in their area begins to ease.
While some are still waiting to throw their hat back into the dating game, 40% of Veggly survey respondents say they are going on more dates and having more dating app interactions than they were even before the pandemic hit, with 43% saying they are back to dating as they did pre-COVID.
Commenting on the new user data, Founder of Veggly, Alex Felipelli, said, “The pandemic has been very frustrating for people looking for love and new relationships as restrictions have prevented dates, meet ups and holidays. As the lockdowns are easing, we are now witnessing a large surge in new downloads, dating activity and new relationships for vegans and vegetarians. This is wonderful to see!”
Launched in 2017, Veggly has grown rapidly in the past 18 months, reaching over 450,000 global users, including users in the US, Canada, Australia, Denmark, Korea, Spain, and beyond. The app, which aims to help herbivorous daters meet like-minded partners, is available worldwide in a multitude of languages, with more on the way.
