This American-favorite burger chain is shaking things up with its new plant-based desserts and burger patty that are here to stay. Now their plant-powered patrons across the country can indulge in some tasty eats (with some modifications) while we wait for some vegan-friendly ShackSauce and cheese to grace the menu for an uncompromised Shake Shack feast! (Take the hint, Shake Shack 😉)
Till now, the chain has offered a veggie patty and vegan mayo at select locations for a limited time. Earlier this May, they expanded the availability of their veggie-fueled patty to every location across the United States along with a couple of sweet treats– a decadent non-dairy chocolate shake and a non-dairy frozen chocolate custard made with NotMilk™.
Shake Shack is coming through for their customers by catering to their requests for more plant-based eats and we couldn’t be more thrilled! “Since we started Shake Shack in 2004, our mission has been to serve up elevated versions of the classics that not only taste great but are crafted with premium ingredients. Our guests have been asking for more menu items, including plant-based options, and our new non-dairy shake, frozen custard, and Veggie Shack are providing choices not just for vegetarians and vegans, but all our guests,” says Shake Shack’s Executive Chef and Vice President of Culinary Innovation, John Karangis. “We tested all three items extensively in New York City, our hometown, and received very positive feedback. - Veggie Shack (with modifications)
The Shake Shack veggie burger comes packed with mushrooms, sweet potatoes, carrots, farro, quinoa, and the vegan-friendly topping is pickles. To make it vegan, order it on a gluten-free bun or a lettuce wrap without the crispy onions, American cheese and ShackSauce. Maybe sauce it up with some Shack BBQ sauce and perhaps bring your own plant-based cheese and mayo if that’s your game! The unmodified Veggie Shack starts at $8.29, which is comparable to the other burgers and sandwiches offered on their menu!
- Non-Dairy Chocolate Shake (without whipped cream)
This hand-spun chocolatey, creamy, plant-based, non-dairy shake is made with NotMilk™. It is available at all Shacks nationwide starting at $6.39 and will satisfy your craving for a classic burger and shake experience made completely plant-based.
- Non-Dairy Frozen Custard
Our personal source of excitement is undoubtedly the creamy, chocolate frozen custard made in partnership with the dairy-free magicians at NotCo, featuring NotMilk™. The smooth, luscious scoops of chocolatey goodness start at $4.69 and will ensure that you don’t miss the animal-derived dairy!

Need we say more? Time to rejoice that fries can finally be enjoyed on the side rather than as the default “safety net” of a main course.
