abillion, the world’s fastest-growing social network for sustainability, and Vegan Women Summit, the premier event for female founders of plant-based and vegan food tech businesses, celebrate International Women’s Day by announcing a new women-led beneficiary, Farm Sanctuary, America’s first farm animal Sanctuary and advocacy organization.
Farm Sanctuary was founded in 1986 to fight the disastrous effects of animal agriculture on animals, the
environment, social justice, and public health through rescue, education, and advocacy. As the founding farm animal Sanctuary in the USA, Farm Sanctuary has rescued and provided lifelong care for countless survivors of the animal agriculture system at Sanctuary locations in New York and California.
abillion is an online platform through which members share social media content as well as reviews of vegan food and products. Over 1.4 million reviews have been created by abillion members. Since 2018, abillion has been crediting every member with $1 for each review. Members are asked to donate this money to one of over 60 impactful charities, curated by abillion. abillion’s non-profit partners are focused on animal welfare, nature conservation, and food security. To date, abillion has donated over $1.4m to these partners.
“We’re so excited to bring Farm Sanctuary into our Giving Program,” says abillion founder and CEO Vikas Garg. “I have been a fan of their groundbreaking work for years. For us, it’s not enough to just ask someone to eat vegan. It’s important to link these daily actions with impact. Our giving program helps to reinforce to every member of our community that we need to and can help save animal lives, protect mother nature and feed malnourished people around the world every single day.”
Farm Sanctuary is now a beneficiary within the abillion Giving Program. Donating to Farm Sanctuary is easy. Once you have donations credits, simply select Farm Sanctuary within the abillion app and choose how much to give to them.
“We’re honored to be chosen as a beneficiary of abillion,” says Megan Watkins, CEO of Farm Sanctuary. “abillion makes it not only easy to invest in your values, but also to connect with a community of conscious citizens who are advocating for a more just and compassionate food system.”
Farm Sanctuary is also the chosen beneficiary of Vegan Women Summit, being held 8 April 2022, in Los
Angeles. abillion is the Summit’s official platform sponsor. Attendees will be encouraged to use the app
throughout the event to engage speakers, network and review products at the Summit’s marketplace. During the Summit, for every post or review published on the abillion app with the hashtags #VWS2022 and FarmSanctuary, abillion will donate an additional $1 to the animal shelter.
“As the world’s only platform dedicated to women changemakers in the future of food, we’re thrilled to feature the incredible women leaders at Farm Sanctuary,” says VWS founder Jennifer Stojkovic. “With a woman-led leadership team including CEO Megan Watkins, Board Chair Nirva Patel, and Board Member Emily Deschanel, Farm Sanctuary embodies the mission of this year’s conference, The Vegan Women Summit 2022, and shows how women from all industries can bring compassion to their careers.”
Farm Sanctuary and VWS are hosting a VIP breakfast fundraiser on April 9th with special guests from the Farm Sanctuary leadership team. Attendees will be invited to continue the great conversations and deepen the relationships made at The Vegan Women Summit, while connecting with the beautiful animal residents rescued from the food system. Limited tickets are available exclusively to attendees of The Vegan Women Summit and can be purchased here: vws2022.eventbrite.com.
